“This Is a Deep Injustice.”

I have a student who is in grade 8 and cannot read or write. He faces other barriers, as well, but he does not have an adult in his life who is able to advocate for him and push the school to provide more support. This child responds positively to direct support and would greatly benefit having it on a regular basis. With targeted intervention, he would be able to acquire the level of literacy that he needs.

Due to cuts and underfunding, he receives very limited support. He is absent often, likely due to how coming to school makes him feel. This is a deep injustice.
