“The Education System Is in Serious Crisis.”

Over the past few years, there has been an increase in extreme behaviour at my school. I have witnessed firsthand violence towards students and other staff members. These issues stem from a lack of resources and supports to help these students.

The government claims that it has budgeted for mental health support, but I haven’t seen anything at the classroom level. The programming they have brought in doesn’t help, and progressive discipline never works.

As with Sabrina’s Law and other tragic events that led to policy change, it seems as though nothing will be done until there is serious injury, or something much worse, to a student or staff member. The education system is in serious crisis.
