“The Lack of Special Education Supports for Students Is Appalling.”

Classroom teachers, like myself have to purchase resources and cobble together programs to carry the load of an underfunded and understaffed system. We got no resources for the new Language Arts curriculum. The lack of Special Education supports for students is appalling. When we ask for support for our students we are told to do more to meet their needs ourselves. This would be possible if we did not have the huge number of needs- from academic, social, economic, learning abilities and more- in our classrooms. This is extremely stressful - and the teacher burn out is evidence of this stress.
