“Teachers Need Help!”

The cutbacks have reduced the number of staff available for occasional work, resulting in a severe shortage of substitute teachers in the school system.

After-school programs, such as sports clubs and academic support sessions, have been significantly reduced at the school level. This is because teachers, who are already burdened with multiple extracurricular activities because of the reduced teaching staff, need help managing these additional responsibilities. The staff shortage has also decreased substitute teacher availability, forcing teachers to limit out-of-school trips due to the increased workload on in-school staff.

With reduced staffing levels, students are adversely impacted by the need for more personnel to oversee programs. When teachers are absent and substitutes are unavailable, classes are cancelled, negatively impacting student learning. To fix staffing levels, we must fund our schools adequately.
