“Funding Cuts Have Dramatically Decreased Special Needs Assistants and Education Assistants.”

Since 2019, funding cuts have dramatically decreased the number of employees acting as special needs assistants and education assistants. Many students who were once aided by a special needs assistant or education assistant no longer have one to help them.

These are some of the most needy students, many of whom can be highly successful with sufficient support, but the supports that they need (and the province is legally obligated to provide) have been removed due to funding cuts. Now, instead of becoming successful members of society many of these students will struggle their whole lives due to underservice.
