“The Worst Part Is, No One Seems To Care.”
I am a Grade 7 and Grade 8 teacher. Before the pandemic, the school had Kindergarten to Grade 5, but now, the middle school grades have been phased in - but with no additional resources! No textbooks, and no other resources for math, science, social studies, French - the list goes on. Any new resources in my classroom have been purchased by me.
Our school is mostly populated by new immigrant families and those who do not speak English as their first language, meaning many parents don’t have the ability to advocate as strongly as they want to for their children. Their voices go unheard and teachers’ voices simply get ignored.
The worst part is, no one seems to care.
