“Students and Educators Do Not Have Access to Clean Drinking Water in Our Classrooms”
Many years ago, the TDSB stopped regularly testing the water in classrooms sinks as a result of funding cuts. They instead put up signs that say “handwashing only” because they didn’t know if it was safe for drinking. What this means is that students and educators do not have access to clean drinking water in our classrooms or on our floor. There is ONE single water fountain in my entire school which is on the first floor. After lunch recess, when students are normally doing math, almost 200 students are lined up at the single source of clean tested water in our school, filling up their water bottles. This is a waste of instructional time.
