“Half My Students Sit in The Dark.”
Half of my students sit in the dark because a track of my classroom lighting has been burnt out since March 2024. So far, no one has fixed it. In addition, blinds on one of my windows is broken, making lockdown protocol impossible. At one point, I even used construction paper to cover it. The irony is that this week, employees had to hang a banner outside my room on the exterior of the school for parents to see how this government has invested 16 billion dollars into fixing our schools. Meanwhile, inside the building, I can’t get lighting or blinds.
