Toronto Star: Ontario Students Will Suffer from Ford Government’s Education Funding Shortfalls, School Boards Warn

(Via the Toronto Star) – Ontario school boards say provincial education funding is not keeping up with inflation and are warning of looming cutbacks.

“We know we’re getting less money year over year,” said Cathy Abraham, president of the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association. “We know how much we’re struggling to do all of the good things we want to do for kids, based on the financial reality of today.”

The province will spend about $29 billion in operational funding for education in 2024-25, some $745 million more than in 2023-24.
